There's many sources but many are selling the C.P.P. Toyota based conversion. I believe Borgeson also offers one that uses their box. I found a kit on ebay that was about a grand that had a pump, brackets, lines, etc. I think it will be tough to find one in stock right now. I am assuming you are using the original straight axle and y-block engine. :) Midfifites, CMW, I believe all sell the CPP kit. Western Chassis has a rack and pinion conversion that could be an option.

I have done several of these conversions using the 79 to 84 Toyota 4x4 mini pickup box. I have used a kit on a couple, and I have made my own adapter on others. At least in this part of the country the boxes have become extremely hard to find, even rebuildable cores. I may have found an alternative, the similar box from a 90 to 97 Land cruiser. I have not tried one yet.

Making the adapter yourself is not difficult but somewhat time consuming. So what do you have more of, time or money ;D CPP sells the correct pitman arm separately at a good price.

It's pretty tight between the top of the steering box and the firewall, but I have been able to keep the stock shift linkage for both manual transmissions and automatic by bushing the bottom of the steering column to fit over the shaft coupler and welding the coupler to the steering shaft. I have used both Ford and GM pumps with this box and they both seem to work with no problems.

I have a box if you go looking for one.

Does not include the mount plate or the pitman arm that comes in the kits.
You never have time to do it right the first time but you always have time to do it again.
