O.K. How would you do this? I need to attach the TV cable from my trans to the carb linkage. The cable comes with ths barrel deal that tightens onto the cable, but no way to attach to carb. Ideally there is a barrel thing like this that has a threaded stud to attach to carb. Been looking for one for a couple days without luck. My other option would be to weld or silver solder a 1/4" bolt to the barrel and use that as the stud to attach to the carb. Any other ideas, or a source for one of these with a threaded end?

I may screw up my explanation but in the past I made a fastener the proper length to connect the cable adapter to the throttle arm but to not be long enough to impede into the cable area. I would tighten the cable barrel against the throttle arm at the correct angle and then set the cable length independent of the attachment to the throttle arm. As I remember (:)) the screw on the cable side is 10-32. That is the size of fastener that I would use to connect it to the throttle arm.

I have had good luck at finding small hardware like that cable clamp at McMaster Carr  https://www.mcmaster.com/ hardware heaven.. 8)

I had a similar thought, the problem is that the hole in my linkage on the carb is 1/4", the screw that clamps the cable in the barrel is 10-32. Since it's for the tv cable on a 700r4 I worry about any play or misalignment of the cable.

I waded through my McMasters Carr paper catalog I have and did find some that are close to what I need. For the size cable I have either the mounting stud is too small, 10-32, or the hole for the cable is too big on the ones with a 1/4" stud. And they are all BIG, like 3 1/2" - 4 1/2" long and 1/2" or bigger diameter.

I think tomorrow I will attempt to drill a hole through a 1/4" bolt on the unthreaded area, then cut the head off. Then  put the bolt through the carb linkage with a nut on each side. I will pass the cable through the hole I drilled, adjust to specs and put the barrel clamp on the backside. The carb linkage will pull the cable open and hopefully the trans will pull it back when the throttle is closed. I'll post an update.

This kit  https://www.amazon.com/Teckpak-200-4R-700-R4-Detent-1978-1992/dp/B005Z2D23U  has all you need including the cable. WARNING! the cable needs to be set  just right, or you trans will eat itself in no time.

I may have the little plastic piece the cable goes through. I'll look and see.

Frank, I wrote a response to your post, then I looked at the cable you gave the link to. I saw the clip that goes on the carb stud so I went out to the shop and looked at the packaging my cable came in. There in an unopened little bag, with extra parts not for my application was that plastic clip! DOH!!! It was not on the cable when I got it they had it packaged separately. All is well, will be finished in the morning. (I still think my idea would have worked too )

This just might work. I can't believe I had the right part all along! The bottom cable is the tv cable

LOL, not really rusty, just discolored. I found it on the Holley on top of the engine I took out to put this one in.
