UGLY OLDS

My 60 year old garage heater is starting to smell kinda wonky ....
Is anyone using or familiar with  Mr. Heater " Big Max" hanging heaters  :?:

After doing my due diligence on brands & models, it is worse than the Ford/Chevy/Lincoln/Hobart/Miller thing all wrapped up in one    :?
Almost every site I visit has the normal "Mine blew up the first day" / "Mine has lasted 25 years with only a dusting" argument ...
I am aiming toward a 30/50K BTU rated unit .....

Anybody  :?:  :?:

Bob..

I've got a Big Maxx 75,000 propane heater on my ceiling. Shortly after I put it up and turned it on, the circuit board blew something. I called them and they sent another board right away. It's worked okay since, but I don't use it often. If you do get one, don't turn off the propane or gas before shutting it down; it will blow a cb or something in there. Then you have to take off the side panel and reset it. Now I just turn down the t-stat and wait till the furnace shuts down before I shut off the propane.

It heats my 24x40x9 shop up pretty well, but I wish it had a squirrel cage instead of a fan.

I installed a "Big Max" that I bought from Northern Tool this last fall and I used it this last season.  Most of the time I heat the shop with the outside forced air furnace I built, but early fall and late spring I used the propane furnace it a lot.   No problems.

I installed a "Big Max" in January in my garage. I have a 100 lb propane tank outside the shop and it finally ran out this week(yes it is still cold in the garage here in Michigan). I am very happy with mine, it is the 50,000 and I heat a 24' x 20' shop that is inside a my pole barn.
You never have time to do it right the first time but you always have time to do it again.
