Its probably just a cheap reman starter problem but was wondering if using a weak battery can cause starter problems,Autozone reman starter with less then 500 miles that I had had hooked up to a almost 10 year old battery seized up without warning today. Starter replaced under warranty and picked up a new battery too since I had to rig that battery in and got one that fit the car.

Yes it can. If the Voltage is low the starter needs more Amps to do the same work. Which causes more heat.

Weak battery? What's that. I either put a new battery in each of my vehicles every 3-4 years where I am or I am just asking for trouble. Other than a new battery..they seem to go for 10-12 years here. Replacements last me about 3-4 years. Just a cost of driving. I have simply had too many maddening..including one recently of a 1 1/2 old battery acting up. Bad batteries have cost me a lot of time. Might have to go back to the old days when I had one good known battery..maybe 2..that would pretty much fit anything..with adapters. Those days are so over
