Bought another corvair. this one is for parts. Going to swap its 4 speed into my powerglide and make a real car out of it.  It is a real rust bucket so I thought I might roll it on its side to work on it. The guy was attached to it. Didn't think he was going to take the money and give me the title for a little while. Than I forgot to get the keys.  This one is a corsa so it has some parts I should be able to sell and recoup my $300.

I just can't imagine a rusty Corvair  :P  .......I'll have to stop by sometime and check it out! Say hello to the wife and grandson!

You stop anytime. Just going to take parts off the rust bucket. A 4 speed in a high Horse Power Corvair is a must.

Ah, shades of my young life.  A friend I was in the Navy with bought one in '61 when they first came out.  It took some learning to get the drill down when he stopped into a gas station, teaching attendants about the servicing - he had to tear the engine down twice because someone put water in the crankcase, thinking the oil fill was a radiator.

My Bride had a '62 Coupe when we got married, and I couldn't keep my hands off of either one of them.  I heated up the engine with bigger jugs, a cam and solid lifters - that was a mistake - and a four carb conversion and headers.  It sounded terrific, and ran like a galled monkey, but always overheated after I did that, and took a penchant for blowing out the oil cooler O-rings -messy, messy.  I came across one for sale a while back and asked her if she would like to have another "Tomato Can" - she just said NO.

I think I'm leaving the motor alone. It does have a tendency to vapor lock with this cheap gas. I put the trombone style exhaust on it and opened up the ends. Sounds ok. I have it tuned pretty well so it doesn't sound like it has a cam at idle. It is a 4 carb. Its getting above 20 mpg.
