I want to change my brake light switch from the hydraulic to a mechanical for a quicker response and need a switch that completes the circuit when the button is released like a dome light switch.   Was wondering if a dome light switch would handle the current for two 1157 bulbs.  Any thought?

same switch at NAPA. It's listed for a 47 to 54 Chevy pickup.

This is odd. I've got a Standard Plus stoplight switch (SLS-41 H2) that is normally closed. It looks much like the ones posted, but doesn't have an adjustable arm. It's an older switch, so I don't think it would've been used with a relay. How does this work?

Just like this one:

Hello;
A break light switch from a 57 (or tri five chevies) sounds just like what you need!

I think that type of switch was common across most of the GM lines up until they started changing to hanging pedals.  My '59 Chevy pickup had that style, bolted under the floor with the arm between the floor and the pedal arm, normally open switch; push the pedal down and the switch closed, opened back up when you let off the pedal and it came back up to the floor underneath.

Hello;
The chevy switch just is mounted up so that the pedal arm when not in use depreses the switch, then when you push the pedal the switch engages turning on the tail stop lights.

That's what I finally realized.  Just backwards from my way of thinking.
