Has anybody cut a modern filler neck and put a length of hose in it to extend it? Did filling the tank become difficult because of the venting? I'm trying to decide the location for the filler neck on the 51. The 2 necks I have are both for unleaded. Most of the modern tanks have no external vent. They all seem to run through the emission system. Years ago we just filled the tank. Will that still be the case?

Where does the emissions hose attach ?

Up front on the engine. It's a 1/4" line.

Some of the later model fillers have an internal fill vent. Either a second tube, about 1/2" ID that is along side the full tube and joins the fill tube just below the plate in the neck, or an internal tube  about the same size that sticks into the tank below the filler tube about 3". You can create something similar for your tank.
