Yes, it's the ability to run a 7:1 pedal ratio which reduces the effort. It certainly isn't decreasing the piston area. That increases the effort.

I used the floor mount on my model A sedan and it worked well.

I had skinny bias plys on the front and a 10" wide 33" tall slick on the back.

Drum brakes all the way around.
