I am in the process of converting my 66 F250 into a 1/2 ton, when I installed the 460 a few years ago the front end did not drop any using the original springs so when I got the 1/2 front suspension I grabbed it from one with a FE motor.  Now I am thinking about another set of front springs to drop the front end a little so I was thinking a 351-M/400 should be lighter then a 460 so I was thinking about finding a pair of springs for a 351-m/400 non a/c truck.

don't think that motor came in that year of truck.I think just the 300/6 and  the FE .

It did not come that way but I put it in using 77 motor mounts.

Measure the size of the spring wire, and look for a truck that has thinner spring wire. There is not much weight difference between a 460, and a 351M, about 65 lbs.

302 springs would probably be too weak so I might look into custom made springs.

I think the 300/6 was heavier than a 302 ? Maybe not enough to use a different spring. I have a 65 merc 1/2 ton , they are a fun truck , easy fixes .

Yeah, the 300/6 was heavier than the 302...it was designed to be a nearly bulletproof truck motor and much heavier than the "little 6."
