shipping rims

What is the least expensive method for shipping rims? I am looking at a set of rims in Alberta and it appears like $40+/rim to get them here.Thats by greyhound.At that rate it might be cheaper to drive there and get them.

You might check if Greyhound charges by the piece or the pound. It might pay to strap two rims together. Or, strap all four to a mini-skid.

You might check regular mail too. Here in the US you can ship one for about $20 most anywhere.

Here in the states it's by the pound. Also you wouldn't need them covered. You could probably get them quicker if they were sent individually as they would be easier to fit in the luggage area. Unless you pay extra items go "as space allows"

Might pay to re-check rates, plugged in 4 packages, 15 x 15 x 7 from Calgary to Saskatoon ant got a quote of $ 65 for all 4. Your results could vary with different locations, sizes and not dropping off and picking up at their station.

Check their rate tables, it could be cheaper bundling them together in 2s or all 4. Also watch out for fuel surcharges added on, could be 15-16%.

I am getting a quote of $116 for 4 rims if they weigh 15# each.How much do 15x8 wire wheels weigh?

Might pay to give Greyhound a call regarding shipping rates at For GCX information: Call 1-877-GO-DOG-GO (1-877-463-6446).

When I ran some numbers through their calculator I was using 26 pounds per wheel as a weight. A scheduled delivery vrs as space allows jacks the rate up as well as from depot to depot vrs pick up and delivery to a address.

As far as the weight of a wire wheel, probably best to talk to your source, probably heavier than a steel rim.

Canada post calculator says about $22 each at 13 Kg. regular parcel.
