Are there many differences to the Ford AODs

I put a 86 AOD in my 88 bronco I converted to 2wd,now I am thinking about a shift kit and would like to use the valve body from the original 4x4 AOD. Are there any major differences in the AODs through out its production that would keep the 88 valve body from working in a 86.

Major differences?  no.  Ford did make some minor changes in the 4th gear accumilator , it was eliminated , I forget what year on that

Good,I will pull the valve body and put it aside for a future shift kit installation.
