Hello

My pal has a Dynaflow that has been rebuilt with new gaskets etc, and it drives well. However, when they pull up, it spews fluid out the dipstick.

What could be the cause of that?

The car is almost 100% stock, and I was thinking that it might need a trans cooler.

A faulty memory here,  but the early cast iron glides and / or the dynaflow trans did not have a breather on  them.  A fix was to drill a hole in the tail housing and install a breather

Typical cause on a auto trans to burp fluid out the filler tube  is  the breather hole is clogged up, often insect nests were the cause
