I've looked around on the net, not found the info yet.

On these brake calipers of the Type 3 VW , the brake hose threads into the caliper.

Is there a brake hose that uses a regular flare at the end where the steel line would install?  As I recall these VW stuff use the bulb type ends on the steel lines.

Black rubber hose or stainless braid hose material. either one should work for me , unless the stainless hose cost gets crazy high

I've posted your question on the Volksrods.com board.
Worth a shot.

If nobody has an answer, I can also post on Thesamba.com

From ThrasherBill:

"...assuming they are using the type 3 caliper on an american car application and need something with a double flare at the caliper end and a single flare at the other. Easy way would be to use a VW metal line into the caliper and cut the other end off and reflare with a common flare tool found at any parts store. "

A little research tells me that an 83 Escort uses a brake line that is 3/16" inverted flare on one end, uses a 10mmx1 banjo bolt on the other end, which is the same thread as the VW caliper, and is 1" longer.

You didn't mention what the other end needed to be or how long the hose needs to be - but how about taking your original hose and checking against Volvo, BMW, and Mercedes hoses?  The Swedes and Germans use many common suppliers for brake parts - it may be that the Type 3 hoses are just not common enough to be cataloged on their own.
My project is 90% finished, with only 90% to go.

The brass adapter fittin may be the ticket.  Need to check on the hose mentioned, if I can find the proper banjo bolt

i dont have an original hose. This is a disc brake setup on a drag race car with straight axle, Ford spindles, Super Bell brake kit that uses type 3 VW calipers.

Napa has both. The hoses are 38193 and 38194. The banjo bolt is 83166, you will need two. And 4 10 mm copper washers.
