Has anyone seen replacement rubber boots for the top of GM steering shafts. I'm working on my 70 Camaro. The top of the steering shaft, where it splines to the bottom of the column, has a factory universal joint. This is much bigger than the aftermarket ones we use on the streetrods. The joint is grease filled. The bottom of this joint has a rubber boot. It kind of looks like a rack and pinion boot but much shorter. This boot on my car is torn in half. My searches at the parts stores and Camaro catalogs have not produced anything. These joints were not unique to the Camaro. I believe GM used then on the entire car line at the time.

Quote from: "enjenjo"GM part number is 7802919

Are you saying this part is still available from GM, or that was the part number when it was in production?
I won't be able to check with a dealer until Tue.

Wayne, The first link #14 appears to be the complette joint. I just need the lower rubber section. It is visible in the drawing. The part pictured in your last link does not look like the correct piece. Mine has a bellows appearance to it. The large end of the piece in the photo looks like it may be correct. That end is retained by a large ring. The bottom end clamps to the large side of the collapsible steering shaft. There are several rings in a bellows arrangement between the top and bottom. The part in your link could be a new and improved version.

GM says they no longer stock the number. But it was recently discontinued, so some dealers may have it in stock. You can get it from the aftermarket with that number also but at a higher price than dealers. It is also being reproduced.

Thanks for the help guys.
I called my local GM dealer who is a major supplier of parts in the area. According to them there are none of these seals at any GM dealer.
That left me with the link posted by Wayne. I went that route. Delivered to my door the price was $37.03. The supplier was in my state so I had to pay sales tax. That seems a little pricy for a seal, but if you wanna play you gotta pay!

Thanks again!
