The 32 Phaeton I just bought has a points distributor in it with a MSD ignition box( 385 fastburn motor) and I'd like to put an HEI in it. Not enough room for a big GM one. Which of the aftermarket ones are the most reliable ( I do lots of road trips) and will give the best performance for this engine? Thanks!   Larry

I need to be doing the same thing in the near future. Based on this review , http://www.roddingroundtable.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11079&highlight=bubbas, I plan  on giving Bubba a shout.  Tom...

i would think that something like this...

there are several companies producing small cap stand alone electronic advance curve distributers..

if you end up thinking of a stock small cap hei..  they don't have any vacuum or mechanical advance..    there is some advance built into the modules..  but not enough for a decent performance engine..

the last thing about small cap HEIs ..   the factory gm design of the reluctor left much to be desired for long long life span...  the rebuilt units from az have a far superior designed reluctor..

you do have a LOT of options..

I'd use Dave, I wouldn't let Bubba work on my bicycle
