I have a digital tach (I know, they are pretty worthless) that I purchased for the shift light. I got it from JEGS two years ago, and I am having a problem with it. The shift light works fine but the digital readout does not show several vertical and horizontal bars when it displays. Is this caused by a bad ground or a bad connection of some kind? It worked fine when I first installed it. I like to fix it if I can.

It's possible, did you try to make the ground connection better? Where is it grounded?

I haven't tried to re-ground it as I have to take the header out above the windshield to get to it, and I am leaving for GG in Des Moines on Thursday. I just thought someone may know of an obvious fix that I could do when I got home. But if no one seems to know, I will start with the ground and go from there when I get back.

I called Autometer who manufactures these units, and they told me it would have to be sent in to them for repair. They will have to replace part of the unit.
