A friend bought a 69 chevy pickup project. It has what appears to be a 250 six. A later trans has been swapped in, it says metric on the pan & has a 4 terminal plug horizontal on the drivers side of the case. The tv cable is just laying loose & not connected w/ no provision to attach it anywhere. I am going to have to engineer (rig)  this. My question is can anyone tell me if the tv cable functions like a  t350 or like a 700r where if you don't get the throw just right you'll damage the trans?

That would be a 200R4, and yes you need the TV cable hooked up, and hooked up correctly to keep from burning it up in short oeder.
