We might have to add a cookie oven on the mobile cooking machine.  I know Denise would rather be slaving over a hot oven for us men than out cruisin' and socializin'

Quote from: "HotRodLadyCrusr"Since the roadster has only been on a few shake down runs we thought the smart thing to do is break the 7 hour hour in half for the ride down.

Shake down cruise...last year, my friends and I got my '40 Chevy on the road under it's own power and after driving it around town for two weeks with less than 300 miles on it, I took off in it for the 11 hour cruise to Louisville and had no problems. Plans were made earlier to get the car ready to cruise as Summer was approaching so I could make several closer car shows before going to Louisville. But, those plans did not play out, so I had to just go with it.

A street rod is a vehicle made before 1949 that is modified with modern stuff: bigger motors; newer trans; updated suspension, front & rear; a/c.
Following is a street rod plus definition: No known definition because it changes.

Quote from: "HotRodLadyCrusr"Yes, Beatnik is driving the roadster and I'll be in Big Olds.  Since the roadster has only been on a few shake down runs we thought the smart thing to do is break the 7 hour hour in half for the ride down.  So.... can we crash on that lovely air matteress of yours?  :D   We would  be arriving at approx 7pm your time on Wed nite and plan to leave when you leave in the morning for work, unless of course you want to join us   I'll call you sometime after lunch tomorrow when things slow down at work.

and yes there will be treats in Big Olds

Well I guess, if your bringing treats!!!!! And I'm first on the stop, so we get as many as we need right?
I'll go into work later on thur so we don't have to rush like last yr    maybe as late as MONDAY, lol
Have a surprise when you get here!!!!  :D  and you get to see all the stuff we've been busting our butt's on with the house, since you visited about 8 weeks after the move last yr!! Oh yeah and just drove by us the last time you were in town

Is the same area along the fence near the swap meet still there?

No Idea. if it's there or not

I heard it's all black top now, from the outer road in. I hope that's incorrect.
Hey Frank(s), Is there a provision for a rotisserie on that grill? I don't remember any talk or parts pertaining to that feature.........

I and a buddy will tandem down and are planning too leave Tues. We will slowly slip on down via some back roads and small towns. Look for a few old bone yards and take some pics along the way. I always look forward to the trip almost more then the show. There's a Indian casino in Indiana near the KY Speedway that I'd like to stop and see but my bud, Joe, isn't much of a gambler and I didn't get much of a response to that suggestion. It's about an hour East, out of L'Ville.
I'll be staying at the Holiday Inn, Fern Valley but hope to spend a few evenings around the "Knights Bar & Grill" (or which ever name won), telling stories and spreading lies.......Frank
Tell the National Guard to mind the grocery store...

http://www.kyfairexpo.org/southwingc/index.html is where you can see some of the construction on the fairgrounds. I am waiting for them to update the traffic tips section and that may shed some light on the subject. I also heard from Mary Ann from Hot Rod Hotline about what she saw of the fairgrounds the other day:

"I didn't know about the construction update but was in Louisville yesterday and got a small glimpse of the construction area.....  from outside the grounds only.  It looks like the areas used by rodders have been changed drastically and parking will be more difficult.  I don't know if there is a way to get from the front of Freedom Hall to that grassy area and swap meet area behind the hall or not ..... might be a problem .... I guess NSRA will figure it out though....  Thanks again for writing... See ya in Louisville !
                               Thanks, Mary Ann"

May have to just waite and see what is there when we get there.

When Beatnik and I were checking it out in person last month, the paved access road that went around the very edge of the fairgounds was still there.  If your heading east, northeast on that access road (like your going to take the back way out of the fairgrounds, like to go to the motel that PurplePickup usually stays at), there is an entrance on the left to that(our usual) grassy area.  then you come to the swap area, then that road takes you to the "Pros Pick" area and the stadium.

The high rollers won't park in this area cuz it's too dusty and bumpy, BUT I'm still concerned about obtaining the usual spot along the split rail fence as this will become prime property to the average guys that sat along the fence in the now-gone, paved lot south of the exhibit building and those that set up camp on the blvds going toward the large circle.
Your topless crusn buddy, Denise

We are now in Marianna, heading for Pepsi Cola. We stopped at Tampon to visit a friend who is performing at Busch Gardens. I dunno where Clearwater is, but I don't think we could stop now, anyway, unless you are somewhere up the I10.

Below you will find a picture of the fair grounds at Louisville. On the right of the image in the lot C/D area you will find a red circle. That is the area we usually setup in.
