Can anyone ID this handbrake handle?

Hi again,

Can anyone ID this handbrake handle for me. I bought it on eBay a while back and the seller didn't know what it came out of.

I suspect it's out of a 40's Mopar... Can anyone confirm?

Most Mopar e brake handles were curved like that one.
I don't know about Ford...

Looks like the one in my 48 Dodge. Still works great after all those years. They were really a necessity with the Fluid Drive, as the the car would roll away even when parked in gear.

Just watched 1000 Ways to Die last night. Some 85 year old dude had a '48 Desoto that he'd start every day and sit in. His eyesight was too bad to drive. He died one day sitting there on a hill and the e-brake wasn't strong enough and the car rolled down the hill with him in it sans soul.

Of course, his car went straight down the hill and ran over some punk that was running from an armed robbery at a gas station...justice??

How true that show is, I have no idea. I was thinking "if it's in park, how did it roll down the hill?"

Yeah, Mopar Automatics didn't have a 'Park' until 65.

Also all mopars handbrakes attached to the rear of the transmission until 65 when they went to the rear axle brakes.
