Can any body explain the differences of these calipers?

I have a  Super Bell disc brake kit for 39 -48 Ford spindles...  the kit is setup for the VW calipers.

The instructions mention type III  and type IV calipers.   It appears the brackets I have are  for the type III  caliper.

I see new calipers on Ebay for under 100 dollars a pair

explain the differences... the pads are larger and the mounting brackets holes are spaced wider...

i selected a 69 square back for the type 3

and a 74    412 for a type 4...

the type 3 rotor is listed as a solid rotor... 278mm dia,, 9,5mm discard at 8mm

the type 4 rotor is 11.2mm discard at 9.5mm and 280 mm dia... solid also

now i know that you are not planning on using the volkswagen rotors... but knowing the factory thickness and the discard thickness really should help in the selection...

hope this helps...

It does appear the brackets I have are for the type III  calipers.

Rotors I have for this set up measure .360 thick solid rotor.  They are not VW rotors.

thanks Wayne

I would think the local BAP  parts house would have calipers for me
