I'm putting a diode in the "I" line of the '68 Ford voltage reg. because I have no idiot light.  Is the Zener? Diode the correct one  or type to use? :?

there are 5 or 6 different voltage regulators available for fords....  with external voltage regulators///

is you car not charging????      when the light is not used ... i seem to recall that the A wire has full time power...

the diode is used to stop feedback through the lamp circuit that keeps the engine running in gm application alternators...

No, you need a normal 3A diode from Radio Shack, about a buck. The stripe on the end goes toward the alternator.
