Transmission question

I have a low mileage 1980 Lincoln with a 351W. I would like to know what type of transmission is behind this engine. And would it be a good choice to put in my '51 Ford victoria?
What other trans would you reccomend?

80 s with 351w's came with AOD's

more on the internals of those from the experts...

there is one thing that you have to know... those have throttle valve cables... and ajustment is critical... they won't live much farther than around the block if the ajustment is off... or the pull ratio verses throttle angle is off...

be sure to measure from the center of the throttle shaft to the center of the throttle valve cable hookup... which ever carb you use has to have the exact same distance..
