so, i've been putting together this 73 challenger for a while now (not mine) and the owner sez to me "wher can i get a vin tag? one of the body shops lost the original dash"
tag is attached to the dash
car ain't stolen or nothing so I'm not too worried about that but where does a person get one?

If a search here doesn't bring up anything, try the HAMB.  I know there was a discussion on this and a company was mentioned that did first rate work at reproducing plates, BUT required documentation that you were the authorized owner of the vehicle.

Sorry, checked my files and don't have the web site, either didn't save it or was lost in a computer crash.

Know it is there somewhere and saw examples of their work and it was good.

before you get it totally together.... spend 20 minutes doing the following.

the vin number is stamped in several locations in each car..... you might want to take several pictures of the various vin number stampings... and do pencil traces..

i seem to recall one on the trunk seal area or the hinge support bracing...

another under the door wear plates....

your customer will probably need this info to get a repop plate also..

i worry that the missing dash was used to register a stolen car... with a phony title....

i know that this is not much help...

I didn't say ask on the HAMB, I know better than that for a late model, just search.

I came up with:

http://www.datatags.com/

http://www.nostalgicreflections.com/

http://www.award-mart.com/    (Advertise in Street Scene that they make serial no. plates)

Not recommending any one and have never used them, just some infor to help out.

yep, but it'll be a fun car when it's done....
he picked it up a week or so ago and drove it into town with open headers.
i could hear the hays clutch slipping a mile and a half away, litterally.

bushings in the z bar(new) decided to leave and when the bar slides to toward the block, one armgets jammed and puts a slight pressure on the clutch, never fully engaging.
that and the cheapass diff gasket dripping on the floor...
minor stuff...
