I built the deuce with an MSD distributor, but the engine always ran a little less than smooth at idle and putzing around town. So I added the ignition box and changed out the spark plugs last week. What a nice difference that made. Much smoother at low rpm and pulling away from a stop light. It also kept my digital tach from jumping around so much. Me thinks it was a good investment.

I've always liked the way an MSD box smoothed out a car.  I even had one on my 54 before I put the V8 in it and it made the engine pull a lot nicer off the line.

What engine ,cam, carb, are you running? I have a 6A box that is brand new and I thought of putting it on my 48 F1 with a 350cui 350hp cam and edelbrock 600 carb. It still has a GM Hei distributor.

I am running a 383 sbc with a CC280 Magnum cam, 10.6:1 static compression, Edelbrock 750 in front of a 700R4. I think you will notice a difference if you install one. People on another forum say the plugs stay a lot cleaner, too.
