Need help in figuring out a Corvette VIN. It's on a 2006.

The 8th digit of the VIN is a "U". I'm pretty sure this means that the engine is an 6.0L LS2.

Actually I'm only looking at the engine. Want to drop it in the "40 Chevy with an overdrive tranny. Lookin' for some extra mpg's.

Tried googleing for the info, but came up with so many hits that I figured I would come to the experts.

Thanks in advance.

Gentlemen; On a 2006, if the 8th position on the vin is a U, what does that tell you? I'm pretty sure this means that the engine is an 6.0L LS2 but I'd like conformation.
Thanks, Frank

You are correct, it indicates and LS2 engine.

LT1="P"
ZR1="J"

thought so....

have you been following the buildups... seems they are using cast iron block 6.0L out of cad suvs with L92 heads, a ignition system that uses the crank sensor... edelbrock or msd...  a carb and a carb manfold .. and a cam swap to make some serious horsepower ...

seems the L92 heads were designed off the corvette aluminum race heads that has been modified my corvette endurance racers..

there was an artical on them in one of the magazines...
