Pope Downunder

I'm in the process of removing the motor and box from the pickup to make way for the new engine.  The box is fine, with less than 7000 miles on it from a rebuild, but I wondered whether it could be serviced whilst it is out.  If this is feasible, I will be able to just refill with oil and drive.  I presume it isn't a good idea to turn it upside down; so I planned to set it up on a stand.

The new motor isn't finished, but it shouldn't take long; fingers crossed.  I have a few small jobs to do., but really the pickup is still fresh, and showed no real problems.

The 283 was never fully rebuilt and has been a problem from day#1.

The new engine is a late 283 block, bored .040" and fitted with 307 pistons, and a SJ 327 crank, 'fuellie' rods and #462 Fuellie heads and Corvette valve covers.  It should be around 313ci, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
