Help! I can't get my tranny out

My last son(Tim)has a mercury monarch that we put a 4 speed in.well the monster from Millbury messed it up.he was getting it on and when he went to shift ,it sounded like a gun shot and the swing peddles are just swinging!
I used a cable clutch on it when we put it together.
the cable is fine
the adjuster is not broke,
so i told him to pull the trany,well he got all the bolts out but we can't get it off the bellhousing!any Ideas?

Pull the bell housing too. You may have things welded together from the damage. You may have to pull the pressure plate too to get it to come loose.
