Hello every body. I used to lurk here quite often and post every now and then. Kind of had to take a break from building my old shot rod GMC due to a contract dispute that put us in court for about a  year. We won, or settled depending on how ya look at it.

Anyway, a couple years, one complete house change and  shop move and I am back at it.

The question.  I had a 350 tranny overhauled and a b/m shift kit put in it. It seems to work ok, except I think its starting out in 2nd gear, and if i manually put it in first, it stops the rear wheels, bogs the engine. Just quits working.
Where do I start troubleshooting?

Just a quick guess, it sounds like when you pull it down into first that it is trying to go into two gears at the same time.  Maybe a stuck valve in the valve body?

I split off your post at the Hotrodders forums. to a fresh thread for better viewing...

as I posted there,

a cross leak  some where.

Valve body gaskets wrong,

check balls wrong.

Check the pump for cross leaks to feed 2nd gear to place it always "on"

mis matched parts
