Got a 51 ford in the garage to do an engine-tranny swap on.  Wants to change the steering box out while the motor is out.  Anyone know what late model steering box will fit?  I hear about a Volvo but what year & model will work?  Also, what kind of disc brakes would fit without a lot of machine work?  Is there a petal assy dual master cyl that will bolt on under the floor or would I be better off using a firewall mount swing petal?  Am putting the ole 350 - 350 SBC  with a mustang rear in it.   Thanks for any help.  Roger

Roger,

I just noticed that Fat Man has an ad for an adapter for 67-78 Volvo 140 manual box.

Guess the 67-78 Volvo box is what you are looking for.

Humm, they also show an adaptor for a 68-76 Ford F100 P/S box for a 49-51 Mercury, didn't know the Mercury was that much different than a Ford there.

They also sell a kit for a 89up Cavalier Power Rack & Pinion Box.

Looks like ECI sells a kit using 86-92 Aerostar Rotors and GM Calipers.

ECI also shows a some hanging brake pedal kits that I think are worth considering.

The Merc uses a completely different chassis. I've used the ECI brakes, they work fine, easy to install. For the master cylinder, ECI also has a Mustang booster/master setup that uses the stock pedal. Also a 52 to 54 pedal assembly is a near bolt in, and will accept the Mustang booster/Master, and is a hanging pedal setup.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

Yup, that's it, 67-78 Volvo 140 manual box and the 52-54 Pedal assy, that should do it, and just hope he's got his camera batteries charged up.

Thanks guys for all the info.  I will let you know how it works out.  Got the maverick rear in it today.
By the way, have got a nice running 51 ford flathead 6 cyl with OD trans for sale if anyone needs one.
