What's the Best Radar Detector?

Hey guys my detector finally wents * up on me, so it's that time again to brake out the plastic.  Anybody got any suggestions on type,brand etc.?

Humm, I've always owned Escort brands myself.

Have read some good stuff about Valentines, but have never bought one.

I use the Escort 8500 x50 unit on my Goldwing.  It has saved my butt several times.

The Escort 8500 units and Valentine 1 are the most popular with the motorcycle folks.

I thought some of the law enforcement folks were using laser now? A radar detector wouldn't do any good against that.
