George your header coating....

Here's a pic of the first one I did. I used it for a practice piece because it was all rusty and beat up. I sand blasted it first, then coated it and baked it.

The quote is from way back. I can find the stuff from Techline ( http://www.techlinecoatings.com/Exhaust.htm ), but only in 4 oz and 12 oz.. Am I on the right site??? Also the 4 oz is $20. Did you get it direct from them?? They might have changed their packaging. I can't find where Summit has it.

Also is what you used the Aluminum color??

I heard they couldn't sell it to the public for some reason. I did a quick search on the net and can't find any for sale. If I were you I'd call their Customer service tech line and ask if it can be bought anywhere.

I coated my van headers with the Black Satin coating they sell and it didn't protect like Cermakrome. They rusted in a couple of years. I've never used their ColorGuard or CermaStainless.

I've still got a bottle of Cermakrome I'm saving for when I redo the truck.

Thanks, I was close to ordering the black or aluminum, glad I didn't now. It is funny they show a 6 oz like you got, but don't give a part number for it and I haven't had luck finding someone to sell it either.

I might give up and go back to the Eastwood Stainless. It doesnt look as good as what you have, but it lasted lots of years on my truck. The last couple years on the salt have taken a toll on my headers. They don't leak, but they are pretty rusty. I might pull them off and sand blast them and try the stainless on them one more time. I wanted to coat the headers river1 gave me that I'm trying to use on the 383 going in Julie's truck. I'll start to build a motor stand this weekend to fire it and hope to fire it next weekend when I get the pushrods in. I don't know yet how it will fit with the block huggers I got from Jim.

It was 8 degrees here this morning on the back side of the storm that should be hitting you about now. No snow, but cold, have fun.

Well, we could always buy a quart of Cermakrome here http://www.caswellcanada.ca/products.asp?name1=cermakrome and divvy it up amongst a few people that might want some. It's $137 Canadian ($121 US).

I would take a 1/4th of it maybe. The only thing that bothers me is I don't have an oven (that I can use without being killed) to bake it in. I liked the other stuff they had as it bakes on from the exhaust heat, but if it doesn't last long forget it.

I've been looking for a "free" stove someone wants hauled to the dump for a year or so that I could also powder coat in with no luck :cry: . If someone else wants to go in on a group buy on this stuff I'll look harder for an oven or the machine shop that powder coats here might be able to bake it for me.

An old pizza oven would really be great to bake parts in because they're quite a bit bigger. Probably won't find one of those for free tho.

Cermakrome works good for brackets, clips and other small parts too. I spray them and put them on top of the woodstove to cure. They're shiney and don't rust.
