ZZ4's and water pumps

Just a little useless information.  A Short SBC water pump will NOT fit on a ZZ4 engine.  (Without a little modification that is).  The ZZ4 has a composite timing chain cover and the specialty bolts that hold it on stick out about 1/2" which in turn runs into the back of the water pump.  I removed the bolt and ground down the head just enough to where I could still get a wrench on it.  The pump fit okay then.  Having said that, it appears that only stock replacement pumps will work.  I bought a brand new Milodon shorty and the back was thicker and even with the bolt ground down it wouldn't fit.  BTW the reason I went to a shorty instead of the stock long pump was that I didn't have enough room between the pulley/fan and the radiator on the 47 coupe.
