Just couldnt resist when a friend(?) of mine turned me on to this 31 Ford tudor sedan.  It just had rat rod (or is that hardcore?) written all over it.  Anyway I am now the proud owner.  Cant wait to get started on it but my wife mentioned something about her 47 coupe thats not finished yet soooo.. it may be a while.

This one was up at GG Nashville last month. But the one you bought looks like it has the top filled in.
A street rod is a vehicle made before 1949 that is modified with modern stuff: bigger motors; newer trans; updated suspension, front & rear; a/c.
Following is a street rod plus definition: No known definition because it changes.

That is really cool! I am also looking for my next project, even though the '48 I'm building for my wife is no where near done, and I'm already gathering parts for the rebuild of my '39.

Couple of months ago my Son and I drove 600 miles each way because he bought pretty much the same body on Ebay.  These tudors are really cool, and as soon as he gets his current '29 project done he is going to start chopping this new one.  No matter how you build these, they look great.

Looks like you did good.

Thats why I put ???hardcore in parenthesis.  To be perfectly honest, Im not sure what should and shouldnt be called a "rat rod"so maybe I erred in calling it that.  I think Ill start a new topic regarding that and see what kind of response/opinions we get.

Anyway no offense meant.

Check the wood for termites. You didn't buy it out of a storage building did you? Isn't it funny how there are more replies about what you should call it than congratulations on your find? GPster

Very nice!  You'll have it on the road with a simple, 2 step process:

Step 1.  Sit inside, imagine a steering wheel in your hands, and make engine sounds.
Step 2.  Build everything you just imagined.

No, the nice thing about Tudors vs Fordors is they have very little wood.......they have all metal subframes.  That was the frustrating part about my Sons '29 Fordor, it was ALL wood inside, and he has hundreds of hours in replacing it all with steel tubing. On the new Tudor he just bought he has purchased all new subframes from some Model A supplier, and is going to start off with all new metal in it.  The subframe in it was ok, but the body is so nice he wants to make it really right, and the new subframe will give him a better foundation.

Here are some pix of his Fordor and also the Tudor after we brought it home.
