steering u joint question

for steering shaft/u joints is stainless worth the extra money?

i'm not looking for bling bling but longevity.

The plain stainless are cheaper than the polished, and I think they're worth it.  I don't like the idea of my steering rusting.

I don't use stainless on oval-track race cars.....

Depending on the customer, I sometimes even find myself using GM van steering u-joints and shafts from my local automotive recycling emporium.

Paint certainly goes a l-o-n-g way towards preventing rust on ANY non-stainless-steel automotive component.......

I usually just spring for the steel ones and slobber some Rustoleum satin black on the assembly while one of my assisstants spins the wheel from lock-to-lock....

My last set was Flaming River.
They look pretty good, I'm guessing they are nickel plated.

they are nickel plated (i usta be a dealer).
might wanna spring for the stainless shafting as it WILL get surface rust after a while...

Stainless is actually not as strong as mild steel, though it is a bit tougher. the U joint itself is the same on both types.
