I have two engine cranes, the old one I got used and was badly abused, but it served for many years. the new one beats it all to heck, so I decided to do something else with the old one.

I have several out buildings, and on occasion I want to move an engine, or other heavy parts from one building to another. So I rebuilt the old crane into this, I can lift with it hooked to the back of my mower, and tow it from one place to another.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

Oh by the way, nice work on the crane
Some days it\'s not worth chewing through the restraints.

Great idea.  The older I get the more I build contraptions like this to help me lift and move things. Why risk hurting yourself when you can use mechanical devises to do it for you??

Our gantry has been one of the handiest things we have built.  I may steal your idea on this engine lift cart.

Neat!

I third wheel close to the same size (put on a castor to rotate like a trailer hitch wheel perhaps with) put under  the front would make you NOT dependant on the lawn mower to move it short distances.
