Vance, I may end up in Garden City for lunch. I'll be back before 2:30. Unless you leave early, we'll be fine.

Yessir :D  :D

and a darn fine one to boot. :)

I did learn a few things

1) I need a smaller tool box. I couldn't put it in the trunk  so its behind the seat. remember, its a 34 3 window coupe. :x

2) I need a vibration dampner in the steering system.

3) about every 100 miles I gotta get out and stretch, but after I get a smaller tool box, I can move the seat back a little.

other than that, its been a good shake-down run, plus Mom fed me WELL 8)

AmeriCruise, here I come. :!:  :!:

Yeah, when you start out on a road trip, you have to figure out what to bring with ya and what to leave behind. I have a big sedan, but still manage to fill it up with tools and such. When I bought my first EZ-up tent, the car was still under construction. I got the tent home and quickly opened the trunk and it actually fit in there! Then I put my battery back there and lost the place for the tent, so now it goes across the back seat or on the floor in the back seat area. Coupes are my favorites until I learned that there wasn't much room in them, but they still look sharp cruisin' down the road or just sitting there. I have just about all of my major tools in the trunk and every time I think about leaving something at home, I find a use for it on the road at the next event. You would think that we can get by with a few items, but the list grows:
flat-head screwdriver, philips screwdriver, pliers, vise-grips, wrenches, duct tape, electrical tape, socket set, that long flathead screwdriver that has several uses, electrical tools, jack stands, jack, ball pin hammer, some more specially pliers, then ya get into parts like so many feet of 5/8" fuel line and hose clamps (which have helped out more times than I can number for several friends), extra bolts & screws, electrical terminals, wire, WD-40, oil, antifreeze, window cleaner, car polish & rags, chrome polish, wheel cleaner, spare tire, shop towels, fuses, etc...

Where did the trunk space go? And if ya go to Louisville to the Nats and buy parts to take home with you. The first year, I drove my '40 to Louisville, when I got home and started unloading the car of all of the parts I had bought, each time I would take something out, the springs in the back would groan in relief.

Oh yeah, about the EZ-up tents: Mine was staked to the ground at Louisville in '05 during the storm and my friends were holding it down so it did not fly across the fairgrounds. When we took it down on Saturday after they gave the car away, the last stake must of went into a tree root, because it almost did not come out.

A street rod is a vehicle made before 1949 that is modified with modern stuff: bigger motors; newer trans; updated suspension, front & rear; a/c.
Following is a street rod plus definition: No known definition because it changes.

I'd prolly have more trunk room if I took the 12" sub-woofer out.

but then again, its pretty cool to pull up next to one of those "tuner" mobiles and thump right along with them.    8)

I did get to meet kb426 and his son Aaron(sp) nice guys. :)  :)

was tooling along south of Garden City KS on Hwy 83 when a couple dudes on motorcycles flag me down.  :?   turns out it was Bill and his son. :D   I'm sure we were quite a sight, stopped along the hiway chit-chatting. maye next trip to KS I'll get to stop and see his projects. :)

the coupe ran fine. got a little warm coming home, but it was about 90* outside, and the coupe ran about 195-200* but it cooled right down.

kb426 did say something about having to run 130 mph to catch up to me.  :?    8)  8)

it was a great experience, can't wait till the next trip.  :D  :D

Yea, well if you come to Mi. just remember to come to the nice side of the state. That's the west side, we don't recognize Detroit as being worth anything even if all our tax money does go there. LOL
Some days it\'s not worth chewing through the restraints.
