I have posted this on the Aussie site, but I think you guys may also have valuable input on this.

What is the definitive answer, are the new extruded aluminium coolers better than the old radiator style coolers?. I have conflicting theories.

I cannot answer that, but I can tell you that if you buy the Napa One and put it in front of your radiator, dont forget to spray it black, or it will look retarded. I speak from experience here.

Now I gotta pull the grille shell back off again.

I've traditionally used the flat style that mounts in front of the radiator, but on my Kids '29, he just mounted one of the round ones that go on the framerail. It is a "double pass" meaning the fluid goes through twice, theoretically cooling the fluid more efficently. Haven't got the car running yet, so don't know how well it works, but the guy we bought it from builds custom radiators, and seemed to really know his stuff on cooling.

I've also thought about the ones that have an electric fan mounted to them. These look like they should really cool, especially if you have the space to mount it.

The guy I mentioned also made an interesting comment regarding running the fluid through the radiator. He said " why would you want to run something that hot through water you are trying to cool?" His reasoning is that you tend to heat up the radiator more than the benefit you get from cooling the trans fluid.
