fix this Ford

Got a new problem now. :x When the engine is warmed up, it acts like it's not getting any fuel. Starts fine cold, runs good until it warms up, then the throttle will not respond, and if it's shut off, it's very difficult to start, untill it cools off. Any ideas?

Would you like to borrow a gallon of gas and some matches? Is there a chance that the new coils are getting hot and not delivering full spark just like old style coils would do when they were about done?

Had a van with similar symtoms, turned out to be the engine temp sensor. Computer never knew that the engine warned up...

..didn't you say there was somewhere you just HAD to go..but DIDN'T want to..and you couldn't get it started COLD?..and therefore couldn't go?

Escorts of around that vintage(oh they're "vintage" allright) had 2 issues that I know of that may be in your hair.

When warmed up..or hot start they start running like crap or are hard to start.
The fuel gauges went erratic because of a solder joint problem on the board..read higher when they basically had none.As they ran out..the pumps overheated from the lack of cooling from the fuel.(lost pressure)Then the pumps started acting up warm.Once they quit and you changed the pump..all was well again.

Very similar situation..I am not sure if this is related to loading the pump because of lack of fuel/overheating.Ford issued a tsb and a service patch for the wiring harness around the pump.The pump ground either goes bad/loose or gets burned from overloading and it tries to ground out through the wiring harness.Not good.The patch has a stronger additional ground.

Guess you're prolly gonna end up having to do a p.test hot on it..then noid test it.

As mentioned..it could be the new coil going bad when hot.Give the coil the cold rag treatment with the engine warm.BAAD memories of outboard motor coil packs.

Got it fixed today. After waiting a couple days for a fuel pressure adapter, the fuel pressure was fine. :x Did some more checking, and it was not getting spark to all the cylinders. Ended up being the coil pack plug was not plugged in all the way. Cheap fix.
