Frank or anyone else,

I was over to Curt's tonight looking at his 4.3 in the Modified that you saw a month or so ago to figure out what it needs to fit an oil filter to it. There is no adaptor up in there now. It has two small threaded holes, a large center threaded hole and another hole off to the side that has what looks like a bypass valve. He says he hasn't been able to get the correct piece at the Chevy garage. Any ideas?

2nd question. He's running a carb on this motor and the fuel pump has three fittings, in from the tank, out to the carb, so what does the 3rd (center) inlet/outlet do?

Thanks,

Charlie

The oil filter adapter will be the same as one on a small block V8. A cast aluminum piece with a threaded bung in the center. Usually a junk yard part.

On the fuel pump, you have in, out, and bypass. you can run a line from the bypass back to the tank, or just plug it. the purpose of the bypass is to stop vapor lock by keeping the fuel cooler.

The "adapter" for the 4.3 should be the same as the "late" V8s not the pre-86 blocks. The 4.3 uses a small filter - PF51, not the old PF25.
