Looks like Subdivisions have managed to kill another venerable racetrack. A friend of mine stopped by this morning and mentioned that Wentzville, MO.'s  "M.A.R." (Mid America raceway), was being demolished.

There have been rumours for several years about shutting it down because of complaints from all the Subdivisions sprouting up around it. Apparently the people that owned it finally gave in.

People from the big cities want to live in the country, but when they get there they want to bring all their "City" ideas with them. Give them a few more years and it won't even resemble the "Country" anymore... :(

Thats too Bad... Soon we wont be able to go anywhere unless its to a na$car race .. Money talks ya know. I just got back from the last race of 2004 indoors at the ft wayne coloseium (spelling). My 2 boys went and as usual we had a ball. Too bad we didnt make the wednesday nite show. Seems there 2 cars registered by fellows with the same last name but one was mike and one was mikey... Mikey won the 60 lap indoor midget feature wed nite and then got out of this car and took his helmet off for pictures..  It was Tony Stewert  :?:  I read the racing report from wed and they say he did one heck of a job winning the feature.  :(  I didnt get to see it

Man, that freakin sucks. My dad said when that track was goin to * along time ago our car club and a bunch of other car clubs in the area basicly revived it. He said he remember taking weed wackers to the drag strip cus it wasnt maintaned for a while, then after the nostalgia drags starting making some money they basicly kicked em out to make the profit. its all very sad.

I hear you.

We moved out here for some quiet , knowing the city would catch us.

We expected 6-7 years of quiet... we got 2.5

9 more years we move,  after retirement. It will be a small town somewhere in Arizona.  We have started looking around, probably 5 acres to provide a buffer from neighbors

We have a new Wally world going up 2 miles north of us here.  I knew that Greenfield road was to be re-routed for the freeway route....  I did NOT know the re-route of Greenfeild would take GreenField in FRONT of Wally world from behind Wally world .  Wally world traffic is usually crazy and heavy 20 hours a day.  And they renamed it Santan Village parkway or some crap
