Looking at buying a '99 s-10 with the 4.3 v6, the dexcool coolant has a bad rep for clogging things up, I was wondering if there are any concerns with swapping to the traditional green stuff. Seems like some people here have done it?

thanks

DexCool is about the biggest joke ever pulled on the motoring public.
Unless you are on the REPAIR end of it :D
Flush that crap outta there and go for the green..........Maybe
Actually the green stuff is almost non existant any more..............
The stuff they are pushing now,is more a yellow color, and is blended to be compatable with either the green or the orange stuff............
Why can't they leave ANYTHING alone????
If we are what we eat.........
Then I am fast, cheap and easy.

just drain it.. then check to drain pan.  it will seperate and all the sludge will be in the bottom, think of wt it will do to the  car it will not hurt anything   i was talking to a gm rep today about it :!:  :!:

At the 2 year point of ownership for my 2000 Silverado i flushed the cooling system with water hose. I remove heater hose connections, rad hoses, and  ran water through every thing I could on the cooling system

I then poured in 2 gallons of distilled water to flush out the regular water.  then added 2 gallons of red type Havoline extended life antifreeze, continued the mix till I had the system full and tested good for freeze / boil over mixture
