Spent the night in the shed making brackets for the exhaust pipes on the 32
Finally found something I could use to fit the vague picture in my head that I was looking for I boult these nolathane suspension bushes then made these brackets round them

One side bolts under the frame on the 32 and the other I will tig to the 4 inch stainless pipes that run down the outside of the chassis rails

The hard part is making the other side the same I am also undecided wether to cut some slots in the curved one that is the verticle part

Now thats impressive. Looks like you made it out of stainless an then polished it. Nice work.

That really looks good Simon.  It's obvious it took some time to craft those.  I'm always impressed by the things you make.

You know, there's something that bothers me.  We spend the time to make something like that and pay attention to details so that it looks as good or better than a professionally (commercially) made piece, and some "know nothing" person comes up and passes it off as another billet piece on a gold chainer's streetrod.  I shouldn't let those people bother me I guess.  A more open minded person would notice it as being special and stop to talk about it.  I'm rambling..... I'd better pull the keys out of the rambler before it get's revved up and bothers the neighbors.

Yes roadstar it is stainless I love working with it

It is harder than mild steel to drill etc but easier to weld and you just polish it and it's finished I am not that good a painter and small items are a pain to paint plus it stays that way

As far as people passing comments on billet pieces I just don't care I learnt long ago the biggest critism usually comes from the people with no skill and usually a junk car passing off jealosy as fashion

most of my car is "billet" if you can call one off hand made pieces billet just because it's shiny

Build what you like

In the 4 years that I have been towing my race car to vintage circle track races with my hot rod model A, absolutely no one has ever commented on any aspect of the tow car. (Stock body on home built chassis)
Actually it's kind of neat. I don't have to talk to dim domes.

Those brackets are sweet................
If it was mine,I would slot the part that goes on the pipe....$.02

If it was mine....it'd be on top of the car somewhere so people could see it.

It sort of is on top the exhausts run down the side not underneath that is way too subtle this is a hot rod after all

Your probably right about the slotting I just wasn't looking forward to it
I will have a crack at it when I have made the other side

This better?
Couple of hours with a drill and a file, sure wish I had a mill.

Now the pressure to make the other side the same is really on.
Still you can't see both of them at once

It bolts under the chassis rail directly in front of the lower rear 4 bar that locates the jag  bearing carriers

Very nice work!

Those slots really set it off,and will draw the eye to it.

Now that is some very nice work. I am not easily impressed, but you've impressed me with this. I look forward to seeing your car someday.

The slots do add a lot to the looks.  Very nice and I bet people will notice the detail.  Strangely, the item that other rodders seem to notice most about my car is the simple overcenter pivoting bracket I made for holding open my trunk lid.  It's polished Aluminum and only took a few hours to build.  I patterned it off the hood brackets on Nascar cars.
