This looked pretty interesting...before I got to the $11,000 price tag...without controllers and batteries. It seems like at some point some sort of electric swap parts have to be developed. At some point conversion to electric daily drivers is going to accelerate. When that happens it's only a matter of time before fuel for the big V8s we love might start to become harder to find. https://www.motortrend.com/news/tesla-crate-motor-ev-conversion-small-block-v-8/

The tax on fuel is what pays for our roads in Canada . I would like to know how we are going to maintain them once electric takes hold . It may be cheap now but not for too long , electrics are using roads that are funded by fuel tax .

Illinois raised the registration fee for electric vehicles to make up for the lack of fuel tax that is paid by gas powered vehicle.  I'm sure other states and probably Canadian provinces will follow suit.  Some probably already have.  A normal passenger car plate in Illinois is $151.00 per year.  Here is the Illinois fee structure for electric vehicles:

Fees
Random-Number Electric Vehicle License Plates
Newly acquired vehicle/first-time issuance - $401 ($150 title fee + $251 registration fee)
Currently titled vehicle/first-time issuance - $251 ($251 registration fee)
Current plates expire within 90 days - $280 ($251 registration fee + $29 replacement fee)
Current plates do not expire within 90 days - $280 ($251 registration fee + $29 replacement fee)
Annual renewal - $251

There's no doubt they'll have to figure out some way to pay for road taxes.

I coulda swore this is exactly what I was saying ought to be on the market a couple years ago on the gas thread. Ended up feeling like a nut but here we are. If they could cut both the output and price in half, that'd be something. I wonder if the kit includes the required inside windshield wipers. Making all your own hot rod sounds would produce a great deal of spittle.
