I have discovered that my 460 Ford engine has the wrong length push rods and the rocker arm locking nuts do not hold.  It turns out that my 1969 model engine used a length that is not compatible with the rest of my valve train.   I know now the right length push rods and I can purchase them locally.    This Ford stuff is new to me and I would like some input before I buy the new locking nuts.  I do not need the ultimate race version, but just something that will hold and not loosen.   Thanks

Metal locking 7/16-20 lock nuts..

buy extras.. only adjust twice..  then replace.

that number should be available thru almost any parts store..

there is a kit of 16 available thru summit also.

just thoughts..  i hate poly locks..  they work great until somebody puts them on upside down and they fall off at tommys on roscoe in van nuys at 2 am on sat morning..

Thanks again Wayne.

The latest development is that I need to add guide plates to my pushrods as I have roller tip rocker arms and the rockers are moving around to much.  I have a call into Melling to see if the new push rods I bought are the hardened ones that will work with the guide plates.  If not, I will need to order another set of pushrods.
