I have a very slight leak in a gas tank where the two halves of the tank are joined.  It does not drip and the tank hardly shows the leak but it bugs me.  This is the late model GM Caprice tank that is used in my 54 Chevy.   The rear end of the car hit the tank a couple of times when I first started driving the car.  I did not notice the damage right away.  The easy fix is to reseal this area from the outside.  This area could be cleaned thoroughly and then I would apply a coat of the material that is used to reseal the inside of gas tanks after they have been cleaned and restored.  Another thought is to apply a coating of POR 15 to the area, but I do not remember if the POR is impervious to gasoline.

I could use your thoughts, inputs, advice, of just general ramblings.  Any help would be appreciated.

I did some searching and found this stuff.   http://eclecticproducts.com/seal-all.html

It looks like they handle it a Home Depot  http://www.homedepot.com/p/Seal-All-2-fl-oz-Adhesive-and-Sealant-380113/203630404

It might be worth a try.

I have used "Seal All" on small gas leaks and it worked good.
Most auto parts stores carry it
Some people try to turn back their odometers
Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way.
I\'ve traveled a long way and some of the
roads weren\'t paved.

X2 on the stuff Ken mentioned. It is a clear goop. I've used it on heavy drips by putting s dab on a piece of book match cardboard and holding it against the leak until is sets a bit, then spreading another coat on and around the patch. Good to go!

Thanks for the information.  I had to order it from Amazon but it will be here Tuesday (as Wimpy would say).

I am down to the short list on the car.

I have some and have used it with success. HOWEVER there are some additives..(don't know if this is a gas company or local/time of year thing) in some gas that it simply will not work on..neither would anything else I tried at the time.
