Tranny questions and problems.

I just rebuilt the mill in my 1991 GMC truck anyway when I was pulling the motor the TV cable got caught and pulled it off .Anyways I installed the new one.Adjusted it they way the manual say to do.Now it wont shift out of first gear.It just keeps reving.Reverse is fine.the tranny fluid is not burnt.Now when the truck is not running there is tension on the cable if you pull the throttle and springs back,but as soon as you fire the motor up there is no tension on the cable and doesnt spring back.What did I screw up.?

most likely the internal linkage of the TV system.

pull the tranny pan.


Someone with some knowledge as to what things should look like inside the tranny pan would be helpful to you after the pan is off
