fuel pressure regulators are easy..

if you decide to change to a carb.. yep.. motorcraft 2100 2150 bolt right on as will any 2300 Holley.. with a HUGE ISSUE.. the AOD transmission in that needs the proper length Throttle valve cable attachment on the throttle lever..  improper adjustment .. improper ratio... transmission will last only a few blocks..

TPS is easy to check..  with a volt meter.

if you posted the codes. i might be able to help.. do you still have the 80's something crown vic manual set??? covers your motor also.  with some slight variations..

since you have the thermactor system disconnected.. you will have a heaping helping of codes.. for the thermactor system.. probably for the EGR system.    check for insulation falling off the TPS wiring harness.  the last few including my former 83 CFI had the insulation just fall off . requiring me to open the harness to just behind the motor where it was no longer exposed to the massive heat from the motor and splice in new high temp wiring and a new TPS pigtail.

The codes are 86 44 94 31 34 32 33,I am going to erase them and drive it to see what pops up again,I think the code for the TPS might have bee caused by the wire rubbing the metal fuel line bracket so I need to recheck after erasing the codes. The TPS wires were spliced by a previous owner and some bare wire was showing before a butt connector that made contact with the bracket, could that wire touching the bracket make it seem like it was running out of gas. When I limped it into the driveway I let it run and both fuel pumps were working so something made it act like it was not getting any fuel, after tapping up the TPS wires I drove it for a hour and it ran fine.

Quote from: "junkyardjeff"The codes are 86 44 94 31 34 32 33,

if it runs good with the tape on the TPS wiring... well.. that's a fix..   electrical tape may not last a long time up there.. last time i did one i had to open the harness and splice in new wire past the valve cover..

if it works .. it works..

86 us a Memory code..  system has corrected a lean condition..   that worries me..

44 current code... Thermactor air system not working... so thats expected...not great but expected..

94 Current code... Thermactor air system not working..

31 is an EGR code... or EGR backpreessure sensor code... not working.. again.. you said it's disconnected..

34 is a low exhaust pressure reading to the EGR back pressure sensor .. or the EGR position sensor..

32 is a EGR position sensor too low voltage... probably because its unplugged..

33 EGR failed to respond during the self test

so nothing to find here..

I do not remember if it was a code but there was something about the TPS  so I cleared the codes and took it for a long drive and ran the self tests after I got back and it did not show up again so I hope it was the TPS wire rubbing the fuel line bracket.

I think it was the TPS wire rubbing the fuel line bracket, taped them up and has been running fine since.
