Sounds silly, but at a Kruse auction a few years ago I saw a really nice restored 70 SS454 Chevelle sell for $1,700(one thousand seven hundred) because the owner did not want to spend the money for a reserve. He took his chances and lost.

I'm home alone this weekend and I just had the TV on to break the silence. I had the auction on and I heard them talking about So Cal and Pete's recent passing and got the impression from listening that they were selling a So Cal car that was one of Pete's personal rides. I looked at the screen and saw the truck. Following the talk after that I heard no comment as to who the truck belonged to. Knowing about the truck I was wondering if it actually belonged to So Cal and was just portrayed as being Shine's truck as it seemed to fit with his persona rather than the look of So Cal or Pete's. Of course I spent most of the day looking at the Jeepster's/S15 wiring diagrams so I may not be looking/hearing/thinking straight. GPster

I did some research. Shines' 34 sold for $215,000 in 2015.

That would have been about the time that Velocity was making Jimmy Shine their newest star. I remember seeing him as the judge in a timed competition between crews building their ideas of "Top Cars" and I remember him being the head of a department at So Cal judging on people competing for a job position there. The high price must have been for "Star Power". GPster

I'm sorry. I left a 0 off. It was $87,000. It looks like somebody lost a little on this investment. I looked it over close as I have always liked it and it is still in excellent condition. I doesn't appear to have been driven much.

That is a lot of money for a rat rod. I wish someone would give me $87,000 to build a car like that. But I'm not Jimmy Shine so . . .
