I stopped by a friends shop this morning.  He was outside having a beer. Probably not his first or last today.   His 1941 Chevy coupe was inside the shop on his lift with the top smashed.  The safety devices on the lift failed and he could not stop the lift before it reached the ceiling. I did not have the heart to take a picture.  It did not break any of the glass but one door is sprung and will not open.  It will require a new top to repair the car.

If you have a lift, check your safety switches.

That was one of the reasons I had my garage changed to a cathederal ceiling in the hoist bay, so I have LOTS of height.  Still have to be careful, depending on the car on the rack.  I can also reach the plug for the hoist, although I would sure hate to pull a 220 volt plug out under load.
