What do you use for cutting oil when tapping threads? Right now I am using Tap Magic, is there something better?

Just about anything that is available at that time and place.  Sure, cutting oil is best, but in my experience, most oil of a similar consistency will do when tapping by hand; machine tapping is a different thing, though, to me.

I always use tap magic, it's not as good as it was 15 yrs ago, they changed the formula but it still is one of the best IMO

RIGID used to have a good cutting oil for pipe threading machines but I haven't seen any in quite some time. I also use Tap Magic or motor oil (whichever is in reach)

I have a bottle of oil the local tool store bottles on their own that works pretty well. I guess that means it has limited distribution but if you swing by Bob's Tools just east of SE 14th St on Army Post I'm sure they'll hook you up.   :)

I use Tap Magic for small (up to 1/2 in) power tapping.
I use Mitee black sulphur cutting oil for everything else..
